Veteran Jeremy Guthrie will be hoping to pick up his first win since way back on April 9 when the Kansas City Royals face Jose Quintana and the Chicago White Sox on Friday night.

Jeremy Guthrie lost for the third consecutive start last Friday when he was beaten by the New York Yankees. In seven innings of work, he allowed four earned runs on six hits while walking one and striking out two. On the year, Guthrie is 2-6 and has only struck out 41 batters in 85.2 innings of work.

White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez has just a .167 batting average against Guthrie through 42 at-bats with four strikeouts and zero RBI. Veteran Paul Konerko is 14-for-52 against him with three doubles, four home runs and seven RBI.

25-year-old Jose Quintana ended up having his shortest outing of the season last weekend against the Los Angeles Angels and picked up his sixth loss. He went just 4.1 innings in that game and allowed four runs on seven hits while striking out four and walking four. Quintana is just 3-6 this season, but he does have an above-average ERA of 3.59 and he has only allowed four home runs in 77.2 innings.

Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer has only been able to get two hits off of Quintana in 24 at-bats and has been struck out seven times.
