On Friday, veteran right-hander Jeremy Guthrie (12-11) will try to win his third game in a row when he and the Kansas City Royals take on Hector Noesi (8-11) and the Chicago White Sox.

Jeremy Guthrie pitched 5.1 solid innings against the Detroit Tigers last weekend and picked up the win. He allowed two runs (one earned) on five base hits in that game and walked two batters while striking out two. Guthrie has given up 9.7 hits per nine innings this season and his ERA is currently at 4.28.

White Sox designated hitter Paul Konerko is 14-for-52 against Guthrie in his career with three doubles, four home runs and seven RBI. Shortstop Alexei Ramirez is just 8-for-47 against him with five walks and six strikeouts.

Last Saturday, Hector Noesi lost his second start in a row when he was defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on the road. He pitched six innings in that game and gave up three runs on six base hits while walking three and striking out one. Noesi has a 4.76 ERA this year and he has given up 28 home runs in 166.1 innings of work.

Royals designated hitter Josh Willingham has two hits in 13 at-bats against Noesi in his career with one walk and three strikeouts. Veteran Raul Ibanez is 2-for-3 against Noesi with a double, a home run and two RBI.
