On Monday night, Jeremy Guthrie will try to end his two-game losing streak when he and the Kansas City Royals face Chicago White Sox ace Chris Sale.

In his start against the Detroit Tigers a week and a half ago, Jeremy Guthrie went just four innings and picked up his eighth loss of the season. He gave up a season-high eight earned runs in that game and walked three batters while striking out two. Guthrie is currently 5-8 on the year with a 4.56 ERA and he has given up 9.7 hits per nine innings.

White Sox veteran Paul Konerko is 14-for-52 against Guthrie in his career with three doubles, four home runs and seven RBI. Shortstop Alexei Ramirez has just eight hits in 45 at-bats against him with five walks and five strikeouts.

Left-hander Chris Sale pitched very well against the Boston Red Sox his last time on the mound, but he has to settle for the no decision in a game the Red Sox ended up winning 5-4. Sale lasted 7.2 innings in that start and gave up just one run on four hits while striking out six and walking no one. The lefty is 8-1 on the year with a fantastic 2.08 ERA and he has only given up 64 hits in 95 innings.

Royals designated hitter Billy Butler has 14 hits in his 37 at-bats versus Sale with two doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI.
