In Game 2 of the ALCS on Saturday afternoon, right-hander Yordano Ventura and the Kansas City Royals will be going up against Wei-Yin Chen and the Baltimore Orioles. In seven games against the Orioles this season, the Royals won four of them, but they were outscored 26-18 in the season series.

Yordano Ventura made his first playoff start last week against the Los Angeles Angels and ended up with a no decision. He pitched seven innings in that start and gave up just one run on five hits while walking one batter and striking out five.

Ventura made two starts against the Orioles this season and went 1-1 with a solid 1.26 ERA in 14.1 innings of work. All-Star outfielder Adam Jones is hitless in his seven plate appearances against the right-hander with no walks and three strikeouts.

Wei-Yin Chen struggled in his start in Game 2 of the ALDS against the Tigers, giving up five runs in 3.2 innings. Despite pitching poorly in that game, Chen finished with just a no decision rather than a loss.

In two starts against the Royals this season, Chen was 1-0 with a 2.19 ERA and he struck out seven batters in 12.1 innings while only walking three. Royals designated hitter Billy Butler is 8-for-18 against Chen in his career with two doubles, a triple and two home runs.
