Veteran starter Jeremy Guthrie (7-9) will try to make it three wins in a row when he and the Kansas City Royals go up against Vidal Nuno (0-2) and the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday night.

Last Friday, Jeremy Guthrie pitched six scoreless innings against the Oakland Athletics on the road and won his second game in a row. He allowed just three hits in that start and struck out six batters while walking two. His ERA dipped down to 4.50 with that win and he has only walked 2.5 batters per nine innings this year.

Diamondbacks second baseman Aaron Hill has nine hits in 39 at-bats against Guthrie with two home runs, five RBI and seven strikeouts. Mark Trumbo is hitless against him in nine at-bats with no walks and one strikeout.

Vidal Nuno made his fifth start for the Diamondbacks last Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates and ended up with a no decision. He pitched six innings in that game and allowed just one run on three hits while walking two batters and striking out five. He has given up 109 hits in 107.1 innings this season and he currently has a 4.78 ERA.

All of the Royals will be getting their first chance to go up against Nuno on Thursday. His changeup, which he only throws about nine percent of the time, is his only positively-rated pitch this season.
