On Wednesday night, Yordano Ventura (8-8) will be on the mound for the Kansas City Royals when they face Josh Collmenter (8-5) and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In his last start, Yordano Ventura pitched seven strong innings against the Minnesota Twins and ended up picking up his eighth win of the season. He allowed two runs (one earned) in that outing and walked three batters while striking out seven. On the year, he has struck out 102 batters in 121 innings on the mound and he currently has a 3.50 ERA.

All of the Diamondbacks will be facing Ventura for the first time on Wednesday night. So far this season, he has held left-handed hitters to a .693 OPS.

Against the Pittsburgh Pirates last week, Josh Collmenter pitched 5.1 innings and ended up with a no decision in a game the Diamondbacks ended up winning 7-4. He allowed three runs on four hits in that game while walking two batters and striking out four. He now has a 4.07 ERA on the season and he has given up 124 hits in 119.1 innings on the mound.

None of the Royals' hitters have been able to hit a home run off of Collmenter yet, but outfielder Nori Aoki has two hits in three at-bats against him with a double and no strikeouts. Veteran Raul Ibanez is 0-for-4 against him with one strikeout.
