Left-hander Gio Gonzalez will make his first start since mid-May on Wednesday when the Washington Nationals take on Scott Feldman and the Houston Astros.

Gio Gonzalez last made a start for the Nationals back on May 17 before going on the disabled list with a shoulder issue. In that game, he lost for the third start in a row after only going three innings and giving up five earned runs to the New York Mets. On the season so far, Gonzalez is 3-4 with a 4.62 ERA and he has struck out 53 batters in 50.2 innings.

Astros outfielder Dexter Fowler has four hits in nine at-bats against Gonzalez with a double, a home run and two RBI. Marwin Gonzalez is 0-for-4 against him with a strikeout.

Veteran Scott Feldman ended up with a no decision in his start against the Arizona Diamondbacks last week at home. He went 6.1 innings in that game and allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out six and walking no one. Feldman is 3-4 so far this season with a 3.98 ERA and he has only given up six home runs in 61 innings pitched.

Center fielder Denard Span has faced Feldman more than any of the other Nats and he is 5-for-17 against him with a double and no strikeouts. Nate McLouth is the only player on Washington who has been able to hit a home run off of the right-hander.
