Tuesday night, Dallas Keuchel gets the call for the Houston Astros as they take on Tanner Roark and the Washington Nationals.  Both pitchers will be making their 14th starts of the season.

Dallas Keuchel picked up his 2nd straight win his last time out and that boosted his record to 8 – 3 with a 2.38 ERA.  Keuchel went 5 innings in his last start and allowed just a run (on a solo homer) and 4 hits while walking a batter and striking out 5.  Keuchle’s numbers are a huge improvement compared to 2013 when he went 6 – 10 with a 5.15 ERA in 22 starts and 9 relief appearances.

Last season, Keuchel didn’t face the Nationals but he has some experience against their lineup.  As a whole, the Washington roster doesn’t have that many at-bats against Keuchel but they are batting .423 with 11 hits, a homer and 5 RBIs in 26 plate appearances.

Tanner Roark boosted his record to 5- 4 with a 2.92 ERA after winning his 2nd straight start the last time he took the mound.  In 6 innings of work, Roark surrendered 2 runs on 7 hits without issuing a walk as he struck out 4. Roark has done well in his 2nd Major League season and he is on pace to post better numbers than he did in 2013 when he went 7 – 1 with a 1.51 ERA in 5 starts and 9 relief appearances.  

During his rookie campaign, Roark didn’t face the Astros and he has no experience against their lineup.  But if he shows Houston what he has shown the rest of baseball, he should have no problem on the mound.
