Right-hander Jarred Cosart will try to shake off one of his worst starts of the year when he and the Houston Astros go up against Texas Rangers rookie Nick Martinez on Monday night.

In his last start, Jarred Cosart had a rough outing against the Seattle Mariners at home and ended up taking his sixth loss of the year. He pitched 5.2 inning sin that game and gave up six earned runs on nine hits while walking four batters and striking out three. Cosart now has an 8-6 record on the campaign and has only given up six home runs in 100.2 innings.

Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has two hits in three at-bats against Cosart and is the only player on Texas who has hit a home run off of him. Outfielder Shin-Soo Choo is 0-for-4 against Cosart with four strikeouts.

Last Tuesday, Nick Martinez had the worst start of his Major League career so far after giving up eight runs to the Baltimore Orioles on the road. He pitched five innings in that outing and allowed seven hits while walking one batter and striking out just one. In 67 innings, Martinez has given up 82 hits and has only been able to strike out 29 batters.

The Astros are one of the teams that Martinez has already faced this season. In their first encounter, third baseman Matt Dominguez went 2-for-2 against him with an RBI.
