On Wednesday night, rookie Nick Tropeano (0-0) will be making his first Major League start of his career when he and the Houston Astros face Hisashi Iwakuma (14-6) and the Seattle Mariners.

Nick Tropeano had a solid season in Triple-A this season, which resulted in his recent call-up. The 24-year-old right-hander started 20 games in the minors and was 9-5 with a 3.03 ERA and a 0.987 WHIP. He gave up just 90 hits and struck out 120 batters in his 124.2 innings this year while also giving up just 11 home runs.

When the Mariners face Tropeano on Wednesday, they can expect to see a 92-94 mph fastball and an above-average splitter.

Last week, Hisashi Iwakuma was able to pick up his second win in a row when he beat the Texas Rangers on the road. He gave up three runs in 5.1 innings of work that day while striking out five batters and walking one. Iwakuma now owns a solid 2.97 ERA and he has only walked a total of 14 batters in 160.2 innings this season.

Astros infielder Marwin Gonzalez has seven hits in 12 at-bats against Iwakuma in his career with a double and a solo home run. Designated hitter Chris Carter has also hit home urn off of the right-hander, but he is just 3-for-18 overall against him with one walk and seven strikeouts.
