On Thursday night, Houston Astros starter Dallas Keuchel will be going for his ninth victory of the season when he goes up against Matt Shoemaker and the Los Angeles Angels.

Left-hander Dallas Keuchel lost his second game in a row and his fifth overall last Tuesday when he was beaten by the Tampa Bay Rays on the road. He pitched eight innings in that game, but he gave up five runs (four earned) on nine hits while walking four and striking out four. Despite that loss, Keuchel has excellent numbers this year, going 8-5 through 15 starts with a 2.78 ERA.

Angels second baseman Howie Kendrick has five hits in 13 at-bats against Keuchel with a double, a home run and two RBI. Grant Green is just 1-for-7 against him with an RBI and a strikeout.

Matt Shoemaker had his worst start of the year on Sunday when he was beaten by the Kansas City Royals on the road. He allowed a season-high eight runs on 11 hits in that game while walking one and striking out two. His ERA raised nearly a run to 4.50 with that loss, but he has been able to strike out 53 hitters in 54 innings this season.
