Veteran right-hander Scott Feldman will be pitching for the Houston Astros on Monday and will be facing Yordano Ventura of the Kansas City Royals.

Scott Feldman had his shortest outing of the season last Tuesday when he was beaten by the Los Angeles Angels on the road. He went just four runs in that game and allowed eight runs (three earned) on nine hits while striking out four and walking two. He is now 2-2 on the the year and his ERA is up to 3.02. His 4.8 strikeouts per nine innings is a lot lower than his K rate in 2013.

Royals left fielder Alex Gordon likes to face Feldman, going 8-for-21 against him with a double and a triple in his career. Billy Butler is the only Royal who has hit a home run off of Feldman, but he is just 6-for-29 against him overall.

Yordano Ventura lost for the third consecutive start when he was defeated by the Chicago White Sox last week. He allowed four runs in that game and struck out three while walking no one. He still has a solid 2.80 ERA on the season and has struck out 56 batters in 54.2 innings.

The current Astros have a combined .182 batting average against Ventura in 22 at-bats. Carlos Corporan is the only Kansas City player who has hit a home run off of the right-hander.
