Tuesday afternoon, the Houston Astros will take the field behind Brad Peacock as they face the Arizona Diamondbacks and Bronson Arroyo. Peacock will be making his 9th start and 13th appearance as Arroyo make his 13th start. 

Brad Peacock picked up a win in his last outing to take his record to 2 – 4 with a 4.82 ERA. In that start, Peacock allowed 3 runs on 6 hit in 5 innings of work. He walked a batter and struck out 1.    After missing his previous start due to soreness in his right forearm, Peacock seemed to be fine in this outing. In 2013, Peacock went 5 – 6 with a 5.18 ERA in 14 starts and 4 relief appearances.

Last season, Peacock didn’t face the Diamondbacks and in his career, he has only faced one hitter on the Arizona roster. Mark Trumbo drew a walk against Peacock but since he is on the disabled list, Peacock won’t get to face him again.

Bronson Arroyo added a win in his last start and that improved his record to 5 – 4 with a 4.50 ERA. His last time out, Arroyo pitched 6.1 innings and allowed 4 runs on 6 hits (including 2 home runs) with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.  Arroyo still has time to match his results last season when he went 14 – 12 with a 3.79 ERA in 32 starts for the Cincinnati Reds.

In 2013, Arroyo didn’t face the Astros but he has seen a few of their hitters in the past.  The 6 Astros that have faced Arroyo are batting a combined .159 with 7 hits, a homer and 4 RBIs in 44 at-bats.
