Drew Smyly will try to end his current two-game losing streak when he and the Detroit Tigers take on Colby Lewis and the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.

Left-hander Drew Smyly pitched well in his game against the Kansas City Royals last week, but he only got a no decision out of the start. He pitched seven innings in that game and allowed just two runs on seven hits while striking out six and walking no one. He now has a 3-6 record on the year with a 3.48 ERA and he has struck out 57 batters in 67.1 innings.

Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus has faced Smyly more than nay of his teammates, but he has just two hits in in nine at-bats against him. Outfielder Shin-Soo Choo is 1-for-6 against him with three strikeouts.

Colby Lewis did not pitch very well against the Oakland Athletics in his last start, but he got some help from his offense and ended up picking up his fifth win of the season. He allowed five earned runs on 10 hits in that outing while striking out two and walking three. Lewis has had a down season this year, allowing 92 hits in 63.1 innings and he currently has a 5.97 ERA.

Veteran outfielder Torii Hunter has hit a home run off of Lewis, but that is one of just two hits he has against him in 22 at-bats.
