Drew Smyly will be hoping to bounce back from his worst start of the season when he and the Detroit Tigers take on Chris Young and the Seattle Mariners on Saturday night.

Last Monday, Drew Smyly lost for the third time this season when he was beaten by the Oakland Athletics on the road. Smyly pitched five innings in that start and allowed a season-high six earned runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out three. He now has a 2-3 record on the year with a 3.86 ERA and has struck out 40 hitters through 44.1 innings.

Second baseman Robinson Cano has faced Smyly more than any of his teammates, but he is hitless against him in six at-bats. Collectively, the Mariners are just 2-for-15 against the left-hander.

Veteran Chris Young pitched 6.1 solid innings against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday and ended up picking up his fourth win of the season. He allowed just one run on two base hits in that start and struck out five while walking three. Young has had one of the most surprising starts to the season this year by going 4-2 through 10 starts with a 3.30 ERA.

Reigning AL MVP Miguel Cabrera has had a tough time figuring out Young so far in his career by going just 1-for-9 against him with three strikeouts. Veteran outfielder Torii Hunter is 2-for-4 against Young with a home run and three RBI.
