Rick Porcello was able to get the win in his first start of the season and is hoping to get his second when the Detroit Tigers take on Andrew Cashner and the San Diego Padres on Friday night.

Rick Porcello faced the Baltimore Orioles last Saturday and was able to hold them to just one run on three hits over 6.2 innings in a game the Tigers eventually won 7-6. He struck out three and walked two in the win.

Padres outfielder Seth Smith is the only player on the active roster who has faced Porcello in his career. He has eight plate appearances against the big righty and has four hits, including a double and a triple.

Andrew Cashner made his second start of the season last Saturday against the Miami Marlins and came away with the loss to make him 0-1 on the season. He didn't pitch badly, though, allowing just two earned runs on five hits over six innings of work. He was able to strike out six Marlins on the night, but he did walk three in the loss. Cashner now has now pitched a total of 12 innings on the season and has a 2.25 ERA.

The only Tiger that Cashner has faced in his career is shortstop Alex Gonzalez. In his one plate appearance against Cashner, Gonzalez was able to get a single.
