Max Scherzer will be looking to bounce back from his worst start of the year when the Detroit Tigers go up against young right-hander Sonny Gray and the Oakland Athletics.

Max Scherzer had his six-game winning streak snapped last Wednesday by the Cleveland Indians when they were able to score seven runs on him, but he surprisingly ended up with a no decision instead of a loss. He gave up 12 hits in that start and struck out five while walking two. His ERA is still a very good 2.59 and he has 78 strikeouts in 66 innings.

Alberto Callaspo has faced Scherzer more than any of his Athletic teammates, but he is just 3-for-15 against the right-hander. Brandon Moss and Jed Lowrie are the only two A's who have hit home runs off of Scherzer.

Sonny Gray had one of his better starts of the year last week against the Tampa Bay Rays, but he ended up with a no decision in a game the A's ended up losing 5-2. Gray went eight innings in that start and allowed just one run on five hits while walking two and striking out three.

Center fielder Rajai Davis is 0-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout against Gray, while shortstop Andrew Romine is 1-for-2 against him. No one else on the Tigers' roster has faced Gray yet.
