Justin Verlander hopes to get his fourth win of the season when he and the Detroit Tigers go up against Kyle Gibson and the Minnesota Twins.

Justin Verlander picked up his third win in a row on Tuesday when he was able to beat the Chicago White Sox. He went seven strong innings in that one and gave up two runs on eight hits while striking out seven and walking two. He now has a 2.18 ERA on the year, but he is striking out over two batters less per nine innings than he did in 2013.

Joe Mauer has had Verlander's number over the years by hitting .371 against him with three home runs and four doubles in 62 at-bats. Trevor Plouffe has had a tougher time figuring the former Cy Young award winner out, going 4-for-24 with seven strikeouts.

Kyle Gibson had his first bad start of the season last Tuesday and picked up his first loss against the Tampa Bay Rays. He went just three innings in that outing and gave up a whopping seven runs on 10 hits and could only strike out three batters. His ERA ballooned up to 3.63 and he is currently walking 4.4 batters per nine innings.

This will be the first time that Gibson will face the Tigers and they can expect to see a lot of his 91-93 mph fastballs.
