On Sunday afternoon, current American League wins leader Max Scherzer (14-4) will be making the start for the Detroit Tigers when they take on Kyle Gibson (11-9) and the Minnesota Twins.

Last Tuesday, Max Scherzer gave up four runs in seven innings of work against the Tampa Bay Rays on the road and he ended up with a no decision. Scherzer allowed four hits in that outing while striking out nine batters and walking three. He now has a solid 3.07 ERA on the year and he has only given up 150 hits in 176 innings.

Twins outfielder Chris Parmelee has five hits in 14 at-bats against Scherzer in his career with a walk, a double and two strikeouts. Trevor Plouffe only has one hit in 13 at-bats against him with a walk and seven strikeouts.

Second-year starter Kyle Gibson gave up five runs in 5.1 innings against the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday, but he ended up with a no decision instead of a loss. He allowed eight base hits in that game and struck out four batters while walking one. Gibson now owns a 4.13 ERA on the year and he has only given up nine home runs in 139.1 innings of work.

Tigers veteran Miguel Cabrera has two hits in five plate appearances against Gibson with a home run and three RBI. Nick Castellanos is 0-for-4 against him with one strikeout.
