On Friday, July 25, the Detroit Tigers will play the Los Angeles Angels for the second time in their four game series. Drew Smyly (6-8, 3.80 ERA) will take the mound while the Angels' Tyler Skaggs (5-5, 4.65 ERA) will be on the mound opposite Smyly.

Smyly had a strong performance on Sunday when he faced the Cleveland Indians and helped the Tigers avoid the sweep. Over seven innings he gave up just one run on four hits while striking out six and walking just two batters. Smyly got the win which made two straight for the young lefty. It was his first quality start since June 24^th when he faced the Texas Rangers. He'll look to go for three straight wins when he faces the Angels.

Tyler Skaggs is coming off a no-decision versus the Seattle Mariners on Sunday. He pitched 6.2 innings and gave up five runs on eight hits while striking out five and walking one. Skaggs struggled in this game making it five of seven games in which he's allowed four or more runs. Over that period, Skaggs' ERA has increased to 4.65.

Skaggs has never faced any Tiger hitters.
