Tuesday night, the Detroit Tigers will take the field behind Justin Verlander as they face the Cleveland Indians and Trevor Bauer.  Verlander will make his 10th start of the year as Bauer makes his 2nd.

Justin Verlander improved his record to 5 – 2 with an ERA of 3.15 after winning his last start.  In that outing, Verlander went 6 innings and surrendered 5 runs on 6 hits (including a homer) with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.  Verlander is well on pace to outperform his results in 2013 when he went 13 - 12 with an ERA of 3.46 in 34 starts.

Trevor Bauer comes into this game fresh off his 2nd call-up from the minors this season.  He did well in the minors and in the big leagues, he has an 0 – 1 record with a ERA of 1.50 after losing his only other major league start this year.   In that outing, Bauer allowed 2 runs on 4 hits through 6 innings with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts.  Bauer went 1 – 2 with an ERA of 5.29 in 4 starts last season.

In 2013, Bauer didn’t face the Tigers and has zero experience against the Detroit lineup.  Hopefully the scouting report will give him some type of edge.
