One of the best pitching matchups the baseball world will see on Saturday will take place at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago. The White Sox will host a divisional game against the second-place Detroit Tigers and will send left-hander Chris Sale (10-3) to the mound to take on Max Scherzer (15-4).

At this stage in the season, baseball fans know exactly what they will get out of the 2013 American League Cy Young Award winner. Scherzer has been nearly unhittable at times and will bring his team-high 15 wins to Chicago and look to continue his success. He also leads the team in strikeouts with 209 in 181 innings. In his career against the current members of the White Sox, Scherzer has pitched exceptionally well, allowing just 63 hits in 290 at-bats (.217). He has given up 10 home runs including 3 for Adam Dunn and 2 each for Paul Konerko and Dayan Viciedo.

Throughout the entire season, Sale has been remarkable for the struggling White Sox. He leads the team in wins, ERA (2.03), and strikeouts (165) in just 21 starts. He has pitched very well in the month of August, allowing just 9 earned runs on 27 hits in 32 innings, but he is yet to register a victory. In his last start, he allowed 4 unearned runs on 4 hits in 6 innings. In his career against the current Detroit roster, he has allowed 41 hits in 141 at-bats (.291) with 6 home runs allowed including 2 each for Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez.
