25-year-old Rick Porcello will be going for his seventh win of the season when the Detroit Tigers take on the Boston Red Sox, who will be sending John Lackey to the mound.

Right-hander Rick Porcello won for the fifth time in a row on Monday when he was able to go six strong innings against the Baltimore Orioles. He gave up just one earned run in that game on five hits while striking out two and walking none. He now has a 3.22 ERA on the season and his 1.030 WHIP is the lowest it has ever been in his career.

Catcher A.J. Pierzynski has hit a home run off of Porcello, but he has just a .227 batting average against him through 22 at-bats. Mike Napoli is 4-for-12 against him in his career with two doubles and a triple.

Veteran starter John Lackey won his fifth game of the season in his last start when he beat the Texas Rangers on the road. He pitched seven innings in the game and gave up just two runs on seven hits while striking out nine and walking no one. His 8.8 strikeouts per nine innings is the best strikeout rate of his career.

Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler has done very well versus Lackey in his career by going 15-for35 against him with a double, a triple and four home runs.
