The Detroit Tigers will travel to Oriole Park at Camden Yards to face the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday. The Tigers will send Drew Smyly to the mound while the Orioles will send Ubaldo Jimenez.

Smyly took his second loss of the season on Thursday when he faced the Houston Astros. He allowed three runs on five hits in 5.1 innings. He also struck out two and walked three. This outing was unlike Smyly who has pitched well this season. He’ll come into this game with a 2.96 ERA and a 2-2 record.

Smyly has pitched well against the Orioles in the 28 times he’s faced a current Oriole hitter, he’s only given up four hits for a .143 average. He’s struck out nine and given up no home runs. This might be the matchup to get Smyly back into the win column.

Jimenez started off the season in a rough fashion with a 0-4 record. However, he’s won his last two games giving him a 2-4 record with a 4.73 ERA. Against the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, Jimenez gave up only one run on seven hits over the 5.1 innings he pitched. He also struck out three batters and walked two. It wasn’t his most efficient outing with 117 pitches in those 5.1 but he was able to get the job done.

Current Detroit Tigers players are batting .280 against Jimenez over his career. He’ll need to be weary of Miguel Cabrera who is batting .341 against him with four doubles, a home run, and eight RBIs. Tori Hunter is hitting .389 against Jimenez.

The Tigers have a dangerous lineup so Jimenez better be on point because this lineup isn’t very forgiving.
