On Wednesday, the Detroit Tigers will face the Baltimore Orioles in the final game of this three game series. The Tigers will send Justin Verlander to the mound to face Wei-Yin Chen of the Orioles.

Verlander got his second loss of the season after a run of four wins in five games pitched. Against the Minnesota Twins, Verlander pitched seven strong innings and allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out five and walking two. Unlike their normal output, the Detroit offense was only able to muster up one run in this game which led to the loss for Verlander. Verlander currently sits with a 4-2 record with a 2.67 ERA. Verlander will look to get back into the win column when he faces an Oriole team that he’s pitched well against in the past.

Current Baltimore batters are hitting .188 against Verlander in 256 at bats. J.J. Hardy is one player that has played well against Verlander with a career .258 average against the former CyYoung winner. He’s also tallied three home runs and seven RBIs against Verlader. Other than Hardy, Verlander has been tough to hit if you wear an Oriole uniform.

Wei-Yin Chen will be taking the mound on Wednesday and is coming off a great performance against the Houston Astros on Friday holding the Astros to just two runs in seven innings with four strikeouts. He got his fourth win in his last six outings and will look to keep the momentum going when he faces the first place Tigers.

Chen hasn’t faced very many Tigers batters but Ian Kinsler is 3-for-10 against Chen with two doubles. Chen held Miguel Cabrera to just one hit the last time they faced each other and will be hoping he can do the same on Wednesday. He’ll be looking to get his fifth win of the season on Wednesday.
