Wednesday afternoon, Anibal Sanchez takes the mound for the Detroit Tigers as they take on Trevor Cahill and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Sanchez makes his 18 ^th start as Cahill makes his 6^th start and 21^st appearance.

Anibal Sanchez took the loss his last time out and that lowered his record to 6 -4 with a 3.22 ERA. In the defeat, Sanchez gave up 4 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings as he walked a batter and struck out 7. Sanchez has been both brilliant and shaky in his last few starts. It will be tough for him to match his results from last season when he posted a record of 14 - 8 with an ERA of 2.57 in 29 starts.

Cahill hadn't started a game since mid April and had just been recalled from Arizona's Triple-A affiliate in Reno. He has yet to win a game as a starter this season in the Majors but he is 2 - 3 with an ERA of 4.45 in 7 starts in the Minors.

In 2013, Cahill made 25 starts and a relief appearance for the Diamondbacks en route to an 8 - 10 record and a 3.99 ERA. He didn't face Detroit but he has seen many of the Tigers before. Detroit is batting just .221 against Cahill with 23 hits, 2 homers and 5 RBIs in 104 at-bats.
