On Wednesday night, rookie left-hander Tyler Matzek and the Colorado Rockies will face Doug Fister and the Washington Nationals.

Tyler Matzek pitched a great game last Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers on the road, but he had to settle for the no decision in a game the Brewers ended up winning 3-2. Matzek gave up just one run in six innings of work that day while striking out three and walking no one. Through four Major League starts, he is 1-2 with a 4.24 ERA, but he has only given up one home run.

All of the Nationals will be seeing Matzek up close for the first time on Wednesday night.

Big right-hander Doug Fister pitched pretty well against the Chicago Cubs on the road last week, but all he could get out of that game was a no decision. In six innings of work, he allowed three earned runs on seven hits while walking no one and striking out one. In 10 starts this season for his new club, Fister is 6-2 with a solid 2.83 ERA and he has only given up six walks in 63.2 innings on the mound.

Rockies veteran Justin Morneau has faced Fister more than any of his teammates, going 8-for-25 against the right-hander with three doubles, a home run and four RBI. Wilin Rosario is 0-for-2 against him with two strikeouts.
