Colorado Rockies left-hander Franklin Morales (5-7) will try to win his first game since July 8 when he faces off against veteran Tim Hudson (9-9) and the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.

Franklin Morales had his worst start of the season last Friday when he was beaten by the Miami Marlins at home. He gave up a season-high six earned runs in four innings that day while walking two batters and striking out four. Morales now has a 5.32 ERA after that loss and he has given up 10.3 hits per nine innings, which is the worst rate of his career.

One player on the Giants who Morales does not like facing is outfielder Hunter Pence, who is 5-for-11 against him with a double, a home run and three RBI. Michael Morse is 0-for-8 against him in his career with three strikeouts.

Last week, right-hander Tim Hudson ended up beating the Washington Nationals after giving up just two runs (one earned) in 5.1 innings of work. He allowed five hits in that game and struck out three batters while walking one. Hudson now has a 2.99 ERA on the season and he has only given up 12 home runs in 159.2 innings.

Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon has five hits in nine at-bats against Hudson in his career with a double and a walk. Justin Morneau is 5-for-15 against him with a double and a home run.
