Rookie left-hander Tyler Matzek (6-10), who is 1-1 with a 1.74 ERA in September, will be on the mound for the Colorado Rockies on Monday night when they face off against Eric Stults (7-17) and the San Diego Padres.

Tyler Matzek scattered 11 hits in 5.1 innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers last week and finished with the win. He gave up just two runs in that start and walked one batter while striking out six. Matzek currently owns a 4.19 ERA on the season and he has only given up a total of nine home runs in 111.2 innings of work.

Rookie outfielder Rymer Liriano is 2-for-6 against Matzek with a home run and two RBI. First baseman Tommy Medica is just 1-for-9 against him with no walks and two strikeouts.

Left-hander Eric Stults lost his league-worst 17th game of the year last Wednesday when he was defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies at home. He pitched just 4.1 innings in that start and gave up four runs on six base hits while striking out two and walking zero. Stults has a 4.59 ERA on the season following that loss and he has given up 10.2 hits per nine innings.

Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado has seven hits in his 18 plate appearances against Stults with two triples, a home run and two RBI. Catcher Wilin Rosario is 5-for-15 against him in his career with a double, two home runs and five RBI.
