Two of the most disappointing teams in the National League this season have been the Colorado Rockies and New York Mets. The Rockies are already eliminated from playoff contention in the NL and the Mets aren't too far behind. These two teams will meet at Citi Field and the Rockies will start right-hander Christian Bergman (2-2), while the Mets will counter with right-hander Jacob deGrom (7-6).

Bergman is a rookie that never played collegiate baseball and has made 6 starts during his brief Major League Baseball career. He hasn't fared so well and is currently sporting a 5.23 ERA with 16 strikeouts in 32.2 innings. He has allowed 19 earned runs on 43 hits and 9 walks and the opposition is batting an astounding .312 against him. Bergman has won his last 2 decisions, recording wins against the Miami Marlins and San Francisco Giants. In his last start, he got the win after allowing just 2 earned runs off 9 hits in 6 innings.

The Mets have gotten great production from their 26-year-old rookie from Stetson. Between July 8 and Aug. 2, there was no better pitcher in the NL than deGrom. He was 5-0 during that time and allowed just 4 earned runs in 34.2 innings with 37 strikeouts and just 25 hits allowed. He now has a 2.79 ERA and has a total of 112 strikeouts in 119.1 innings. He hasn't faced the Rockies yet in his career, but will look to continue his recent string of quality starts.
