On Wednesday night, rookie starter Tyler Matzek (5-9) will attempt to win his fourth consecutive game when the Colorado Rockies face veteran Rafael Montero (0-3) and the New York Mets.

Rookie Rafael Montero last made a start for the Mets back on May 30 when he was beaten by the Philadelphia Phillies on the road. Since then he has bounced back-and-forth between the big league club and the minors. This season, he has pitched 32.2 innings for the Mets and has a 5.23 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 32.2 innings of work.

The Rockies will be getting their first shot at facing Montero on Wednesday night. In 79 plate appearances this season, left-handed batters are hitting .278 against him with five home runs and a .911 OPS.

Right-hander Bartolo Colon pitched seven solid innings against the Cincinnati Reds on the road last week and picked up the win. He gave up just two runs on seven hits in that start while striking out two batters and walking one. Colon currently owns a 3.96 ERA on the season and he has only walked 1.2 batters per nine innings, which leads the league.

Rockies veteran Justin Morneau has just one hit in 14 at-bats against Colon in his career with two walks and four strikeouts. Outfielder Brandon Barnes is 2-for-7 against him with two doubles and two RBI.
