The Colorado Rockies will head to Kauffman Stadium to take on the Kansas City Royals in the second game of a two game interleague series. Jhoulys Chacin will be on the hill for the Rockies while the Royals will send Jason Vargas to the mound for Wednesday’s matchup.

Chacin gave up two runs on four hits, striking out two and walking one  over six innings against Cincinnati on Friday night. However, he got the no-decision on the night as Colorado lost 4-3. This will be Chacin’s third start of the season after rehabbing a sore shoulder over the first month of the season. This last start was much better than his first in which he gave up four runs over five innings. Chacin is 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA going into Wednesday’s game against the Royals.

Chacin hasn’t faced many Kansas City batters but for the 19 times he’s faced a Royal, it hasn’t gone well. Current Kansas City batters are hitting .421 against Chacin while Norichika Aoki is 4-for-9 with three home runs against Chacin.

Jason Vargas will take the mound for the Royals and try to follow up an excellent performance in which he pitched seven innings of three hit, no run baseball against the Seattle Mariners. It was his third win of the season and had the Mariners completely stumped. Vargas comes into this game with a 3-1 record and a 3.04 ERA.

The Colorado Rockies come into this game hitting .298 when facing Vargas. Brandon Barnes is 4-for-6 against Vargas with an RBI. Justin Morneau has also played well against Vargas going 4-for-15 with a home run and four RBIs
