Saturday afternoon, the Colorado Rockies will give the ball to Franklin Morales as they square off against the Cleveland Indians and Trevor Bauer. It will be Morales’ 11th start and 12th appearance as Bauer makes his 4th start.

Franklin Morales saw his record drop to 3 – 4 and his ERA rise to 5.65 after taking the loss his last time out.  In that outing, Morales was lit up for 5 runs on 5 hits (including 3 homers) in just 4.2 innings.  He walked 3 batters while only striking out 1.  Last season, Morales only made one start and 19 relief appearances for the Boston Red Sox en route to a  2 - 2  record and a 4.62 ERA. 

In 2013, Morales didn’t pitch against the Indians but he has seen the lineup before.   And he might want to pitch around Michael Bourn as Bourn is 4 of 6 with an RBI against Morales.

Trevor Bauer took a beating in his last outing and the loss dropped his record to 1 – 2 with an ERA of 3.86.  In that start, Bauer surrendered 4 runs on 6 hits (including 2 home runs) in 4.1 innings as he walked 3 and struck out 8.  Bauer has already come close to last season’s output when he went 1 – 2 with an ERA of 5.29 in 4 starts.

In 2013, Bauer didn’t face the Rockies and in his short career, he has only faced 1 hitter on the Colorado roster.  Drew Stubbs is 0 for 1 with a walk against Bauer.
