Sunday afternoon, the Colorado Rockies and Jhoulys Chacin will face the Cleveland Indians and Josh Tomlin. It will be Chacin’s 6th start as Tomlin makes his 5th start and 6th appearance.

Jhoulys Chacin is still chasing his first win of the season after taking another loss in his last start.  Chacin’s record dropped to 0 - 4 and his ERA rose to 5.20 after he gave up 4 runs on 7 hits (including a home run) in 5 innings.  He walked 1 and struck out 5.  Last season, Chacin was 14 – 10 with a 3.47 ERA in 31 starts.

In 2013, Chacin didn’t face the Indians but he has faced a few of the hitters in their lineup.  Out of 5 hitters, Chacin has only allowed hits to 2 of them.  But with the way that things have been this season for the right-hander, anything could happen.

Josh Tomlin saw his record drop to 3 – 2 with a 3.04 ERA after losing his last start.  In that game, Tomlin allowed 5 runs on 5 hits (including a home run) in 5 innings as he walked 1 and struck out 8.  Tomlin is still making his way back from Tommy John surgery in 2012 that limited him to just one appearance last season.

Tomlin has faced 6 of Colorado’s hitters in the past and he will have to watch out for Justin Morneau.  Morneau is batting .385 with 2 homers and 6 RBIs against Tomlin.
