On Friday night, Tyler Matzek (2-6) will attempt to snap his current two-game losing streak when the Colorado Rockies face off against Chase Anderson (6-4) and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Rookie Tyler Matzek had easily his worst start of his young career over the weekend when he was beaten by the Detroit Tigers on the road. In four innings of work that day, he gave up a season-high eight runs on 10 base hits while striking out two batters and walking two. He has given up 69 hits in 59.1 innings this season and he now has an ERA of 5.31 for the Rockies.

The Diamondbacks will have their first chance to face Matzek on Friday night. So far this season, right-handed batters are hitting .311 against him with an .859 OPS, while left-handed batters have a .240 average against him with a .623 OPS.

Last Saturday, rookie right-hander Chase Anderson pitched six innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates at home and ended up with a no decision. He allowed just one run on five hits in that outing while walking one batter and striking out three. His ERA is now down to 3.19 on the year and he has struck out 63 batters in 73.1 innings of work.

The Rockies are one of the teams that have already gone up against Anderson. He picked up the win in that early-June game after pitching six innings and allowing just one run.
