On Saturday night, rookie starter Tyler Matzek (3-9) will look to build off of his strong start earlier this week when he and the Colorado Rockies take on Vidal Nuno (0-3) and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Tyler Matzek won his first game in nearly a month on Monday when he defeated the San Francisco Giants on the road. He pitched seven innings in that start and allowed just two runs on eight base hits while striking out seven and walking two. Through 15 starts, Matzek now has a 5.14 ERA and he has given up 95 hits in 84 innings on the mound.

Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero is 1-for-1 against Matzek with two walks, a home run and three RBI. Shortstop Cliff Pennington is 0-for-2 against him with a walk and a strikeout.

Vidal Nuno picked up his third straight no decision last week after pitching 7.1 strong innings against the San Diego Padres. He allowed just two runs on two hits in that game and struck out four batters while walking two. Nuno is currently 2-8 on the year with a 4.66 ERA and he has only walked 38 batters in 131.1 innings.

Rockies outfielder Drew Stubbs is 1-for-2 against Nuno in his career with a walk and no strikeouts. Brandon Barnes is the only other Diamondback who has faced Nuno and is 1-for-1 against him with a double.
