Cleveland Indians starter Corey Kluber will go for his third consecutive win when he faces rookie Drew VerHagen and the Detroit Tigers on Saturday afternoon.

In his start against the Chicago White Sox last week, Corey Kluber pitched six decent innings and came away with his ninth win of the year. He allowed four runs on eight hits in that start and walked two batters while striking out five. Kluber improved his record to 9-6 with that win and he has now struck out 142 batters in 131.2 innings.

Reigning MVP Miguel Cabrera has 12 hits in his 24 at-bats against Kluber in his career with a double, three home runs and seven RBI. Catcher Alex Avila has just three hits against him in 17 at-bats and the right-hander has struck him out five times.

Tall right-hander Drew VerHagen will be making his first Major League start on Saturday after pitching pretty well in the minors for the Tigers this year. In 19 starts at Triple-A, VerHagen had a 6-7 record with a 3.67 ERA. In 110.1 innings on the mound this season, he gave up 117 hits, but he also held opposing batters to just five home runs.

The Indians can expect to see a mid-90's fastball from VerHagen and an above-average curveball. He is a pitcher who focuses on command, striking out just 5.1 batters per nine innings in the minors.
