Thursday night the Cleveland Indians will start Danny Salazar against the Chicago White Sox and John Danks.  Both pitchers will take the hill for their 2nd starts of the year.

Danny Salazar pitched to a no decision in his first start after going 5.2 innings and giving up 2 runs on 7 hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks.  In just his second season, Salazar throws a lot of pitches but he usually gets a lot of strikeouts in return.  In 2013, he went 2 – 3 in 10 starts with a 3.12 ERA and 65 strikeouts against just 15 walks.

Two of his starts last season were against the White Sox and he came away with a 1 - 0 record, an ERA of 2.00 and 17 strikeouts to 3 walks.   Chicago’s Alexei Ramirez has hit Salazar hard with 4 hits in 5 at-bats. 

John Danks also had a no decision in his first start after a 7 inning outing where he gave up 3 runs on 5 hits with 6 strikeouts and 4 walks.  Danks went 4 – 14 last season in 22 starts with an ERA of 4.75.

Danks had two starts against the Indians last year and they were brutal.  He went 0 – 1 giving up 11 hits (including 2 home runs), 9 runs and 7 walks in just 10 innings of work.   Cleveland’s Jason Kipnis and Ryan Raburn have feasted on Danks’ pitching.  Kipnis is batting .385 with 5 hits and 6 RBIs and Raburn is batting .314 with 11 hits and 8 RBIs.
