Sunday afternoon, the Cleveland Indians and Corey Kluber will take on the Boston Red Sox and Brandon Workman. Kluber will make his 15th start as Workman makes his 5th start and 8th appearance.

Corey Kluber took the loss in his last start and that lowered his record to 6 - 4 with a 3.35 ERA.  In that outing, Kluber allowed 6 runs on 6 hits (including a homer) in 5 innings of work.  He walked 2 while striking out 5.  Prior to that start, Kluber had won 4 of his last 6 starts.  He still has a chance to match 2013 when he went 11 – 5 with a 3.85 ERA in 24 starts and 2 relief appearances.

Last season, Kluber didn’t get a decision in either of his 2 appearances (including a start) against the Red Sox.  Less than 2 weeks ago, Kluber pitched to a no-decision against Boston after allowing 4 runs on 5 hits (including a home run) in 6.1 innings.  He walked 2 and struck out 4 in that outing.

Brandon Workman picked up his 1st win of the season his last time out.  He comes into this start with a 1 – 0 record and a 2.86 ERA after giving up just a hit and a walk while striking out 4 in 6.2 scoreless innings of work.  Workman has pitched better than the numbers might indicate and he should be able to post numbers similar to 2013 when he was 6 – 3 with a 4.97 ERA in 3 starts and 17 relief appearances.

During his rookie campaign last season, Workman didn’t face the Indians but his has a start against them this season.  Workman surrendered 3 runs on 4 hits in 5 innings in a no-decision against the Indians less than 2 weeks ago.
