On Friday, May 23, the Cleveland Indians will face the Baltimore Orioles in the second meeting of a four game series. The Indians will be sending Justin Masterson to the hill to face off against Bud Norris of the Orioles.

Masterson is coming off his third loss of the season when he faced the Oakland Athletics on Sunday. Masterson gave up seven runs on seven hits while walking five and only striking out one. The loss put his record at 2-3 with a 5.06 ERA. Masterson seemed as if he was putting it all together in early May when he got back-to-back wins and only giving up two runs in a combined13.2 innings. However, he’s since fallen back into old ways. Masterson will look to show everyone that he’s still got what it takes when he faces the Baltimore Orioles.

Masterson has pitched well against current Baltimore hitters only surrendering a .241 batting average. He’s had Nick Markakis’s number as Markakis is only 4-for-24 against him with two strikeouts.

Bud Norris will try to counter and is coming off a loss of his own. The difference is, Norris was just out dueled by Danny Duffy when the Orioles faced the Royals on Saturday. Norris pitched a fantastic game only giving up one run in 7.1 innings over four hits. The lack of run support caused Norris to tally his fourth loss of the season putting his record at 2-4 with a 3.58 ERA. Norris will try to keep it going against the high scoring Cleveland offense.

Fortunately for  Norris, Nyjer Morgan will be on the DL when he pitches. Morgan is batting a career .313 against Norris.
