Lefty David Holmberg (1-1) will be making the fourth start of his career when he and the Cincinnati Reds face veteran John Lackey (1-1) and the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night.

Last Saturday, David Holmberg picked up his first Major League win when he defeated the Milwaukee Brewers on the road. He gave up just one run in six innings of work that day while walking two and striking out four. Holmberg now has a high 6.00 ERA on the year and he has already given up five home runs in 18 innings on the mound.

Cardinals outfielders Matt Holliday and Jon Jay are both 1-for-3 against Holmberg in their careers with a single and a strikeout. Catcher Yadier Molina is 0-for-3 against him with no walks and a strikeout.

John Lackey ended up with a no decision in his start against the Cincinnati Reds last week despite only making it through two innings. He gave up two runs on four base hits in that start and walked two batters while striking out one. The right-hander now has a 3.97 ERA on the season and he has given up 195 hits in 151 innings on the mound.

Reds slugger Ryan Ludwick is just 2-for-10 against Lackey in his career, but he does have a double and a home run off of him. Second baseman Brandon Phillips is 1-for-9 against him with no walks and four strikeouts.
