Alfredo Simon (12-8) will be looking to win his first game in over a month when he and the Cincinnati Reds take on veteran starter John Lackey (1-1) and the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.

Last week, Alfredo Simon pitched five pretty bad innings against the Colorado Rockies on the road and ended up taking the loss. He allowed seven runs (five earned) on 10 base hits that day while walking one batter and striking out two. Simon now has a 3.28 ERA and he has given up just 134 hits in 148 innings of work.

Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams is 2-for-2 against Simon in his career and is the only player on his team who has hit a home run off of the right-hander. Outfielder Matt Holliday is just 1-for-8 against him with three walks and a strikeout.

Last Thursday against the San Diego Padres, John Lackey pitched seven good innings, but he only got a no decision out of that start. He allowed two runs on five hits in that game while walking three batters and striking out five. Lackey currently has a 3.91 ERA this season and he has only walked 37 batters in 156.1 innings on the mound.

Reds veteran Jack Hannahan is just 2-for-10 against Lackey in his career with a home run and two strikeouts. Outfielder Ryan Ludwick is 0-for-6 against the veteran with two walks and three strikeouts.
