On Friday night, Johnny Cueto will try to win his eighth game of the year when he and the Cincinnati Reds take on nine-game winner Madison Bumgarner and the San Francisco Giants.

On Sunday, Johnny Cueto won for the seventh time on the year by pitching eight solid innings against the Toronto Blue Jays. He gave up just one earned run in those eight innings of work and walked one while striking out eight batters. Cueto has been one of the best starters in the National League this season with his 1.86 ERA and his 119 strikeouts in 116 innings.

Giants outfielder Angel Pagan has four hits in his seven at-bats against Cueto with a triple and two walks. Hunter Pence is 8-for-29 against Cueto, but he has also been struck out 11 times in those matchups.

Madison Bumgarner had a fantastic outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks on the road over the weekend and ended up picking up his ninth win of the year. He went eight innings in that outing and allowed just one unearned run on two hits while walking two and striking out seven. Bumgarner has struck out 111 batters in 102.2 innings this season.

Reds first baseman Joey Votto has three hits in his 11 at-bats against Bumgarner with a home run and two RBI. Veteran Ryan Ludwick has just one hit in 17 at-bats against him with three strikeouts.
