On Sunday afternoon, veteran right-hander Homer Bailey will try to notch his eighth win of the year when the Cincinnati Reds take on Tim Hudson and the San Francisco Giants.

Last Tuesday, Homer Bailey could only make it through 5.1 innings against the Chicago Cubs on the road and ended up losing for the fourth time this season. He allowed four runs on four hits in that game while striking out six and walking two. In 95.2 innings this season, Bailey has struck out 87 batters and has given up 106 hits.

Giants catcher Buster Posey has just one hit in his 11 at-bats against Bailey with a walk and three strikeouts. Veteran outfielder Hunter Pence is 5-for-17 against him with two doubles and a home run.

38-year-old Tim Hudson lost his second game in a row and his fourth overall last week against the San Diego Padres after giving up six runs (four earned) in 5.2 innings of work. He allowed nine hits in that start and walked two while striking out four. Despite the loss, Hudson still has a solid 2.62 ERA and he has only given up six home runs in 99.2 innings this year.

Skip Schumaker hasn't done well against Hudson in his career, going just 2-for-17 against him with four strikeouts. Outfielder Jay Bruce is 3-for-7 against Hudson and is the only player on the Giants who has hit a home run off of the right-hander.
