Early National League Cy Young favorite Johnny Cueto and the Cincinnati Reds will be taking on Tyson Ross and the San Diego Padres on Wednesday afternoon.

Last Friday, Johnny Cueto won his second game in a row and his eighth overall when he beat the San Francisco Giants on the road. He pitched eight innings in that outing and allowed just two runs on four hits while walking two and striking out three. In 124.1 innings this season, Cueto has only given up 75 hits and has struck out 122 batters.

Will Venable is the one player on the Padres who Cueto doesn't like facing. Venable has seven hits against him in 18 at-bats with two home runs and five RBI.

27-year-old Tyson Ross lost his third game in a row last week against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but he gave up just two runs to them in seven innings of work. Ross allowed five hits in that game and struck out seven batters while only walking one. Through 17 starts this season, Ross has a 6-8 record with a 3.18 ERA and he has only given up 95 hits in 107.2 innings.

Reds infielder Ramon Santiago has three hits in his six at-bats versus Ross with an RBI and no strikeouts. First baseman Joey Votto has just one hit against him in six at-bats and he has been struck out by the right-hander three times.
