On Tuesday night, 26-year-old starter Mike Leake will be going for his fourth consecutive win when he and the Cincinnati Reds face Ian Kennedy and the San Diego Padres.

Right-hander Mike Leake had his best start of the season on Thursday when he was able to beat the San Francisco Giants on the road. He pitched eight strong innings in that game and allowed just one run on four hits while walking one and striking out a season-high 12 batters. Leake now has an even 6-6 record and he has only walked 23 batters in 108.1 innings.

Padres outfielder Seth Smith has three hits in six at-bats against Leake in his career with a double and no strikeouts. Will Venable is just 2-for-12 against him with three strikeouts.

Last week, veteran Ian Kennedy lost for the ninth time on the season when he was beaten by the San Francisco Giants on the road. He gave up four runs on nine hits in 6.1 innings of work while striking out eight and walking one. Kennedy has a 5-9 record so far this year, but a lot of that has to do with him getting just 2.43 runs per nine innings from his offense.

Reds outfielder Skip Schumaker has a .391 batting average against Kennedy in 23 at-bats, while Ryan Ludwick has just three hits in 16 at-bats against him with eight strikeouts.
