Monday night, Mat Latos gets the call for the Cincinnati Reds as they face the San Diego Padres and Jesse Hahn.  Latos makes his 4th start as Hahn makes his 5th.

 Mat Latos got the win in his last start and that made his record 1 – 0 with a 2.89 ERA coming into this start. In the win, Latos surrendered just a run on 5 hits in 7 innings of work.  He didn’t issue any walks while striking out 5.  Latos probably won’t get close to repeating the numbers he posted in 2013 when he was 14 – 7 with a 3.16 ERA in 32 starts.

Last season, Latos pitched to a no-decision in his only start against his former team. He has faced many of the Padres though and will have to watch out for Yonder Alonso.  Alonso is 4 for 5 against Latos.

Jesse Hahn won his 3rd straight in his last start and that boosted his record to 3 – 1 with a 2.38 ERA.  To get the win, Hahn threw 6 innings and gave up 2 runs and 4 hits while walking 1 and striking out 8.  Since losing his Major League debut, Hahn has been on fire, allowing just 3 runs on 10 hits in 3 starts while walking 6 and striking out 22. 

Hahn has never faced the Reds but with the way that his is pitching as of late, the scouting report might not be much help to him.
