On Saturday night, Homer Bailey (8-5) will attempt to win his first game since late-June when the Cincinnati Reds go up against Nathan Eovaldi (5-6) and the Miami Marlins.

On Monday, Homer Bailey pitched eight strong innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but he has to settle for the no decision in a game the Diamondbacks ended up winning 2-1. Bailey allowed just one run on five hits in that outing while walking one and striking out three. His ERA is now down to 4.03 on the year and he has struck out 111 batters in 131.2 innings.

Marlins first baseman has a .308 batting average against Bailey in 39 at-bats with two doubles, two home runs and three RBI. Third baseman Casey McGehee is 7-for-20 against him with two doubles and four RBI.

Nathan Eovaldi had a rough start against the Washington Nationals on Monday, but he came away with a no decision rather than a loss. He pitched 5.1 innings in that start and allowed five runs on six hits while walking two and striking out three. Eovaldi is striking out fewer batters than he did in 2013 and he is giving up more hits.

Reds outfielder Skip Schumaker has one hit in three at-bats against Eovaldi with a double and no strikeouts. None of the other Marlins' hitters have gone up against the right-hander yet.
