On Wednesday, Homer Bailey will be pitching for the Cincinnati Reds against reigning Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Right-hander Homer Bailey won for the fourth time this season when he defeated the St. Louis Cardinals by pitching six innings and giving up just three runs. He allowed eight hits in that start and struck out four while walking two in the win. His ERA is still too high at 5.34, but he is 3-1 in his last five starts.

Outfielder Andre Ethier has struggled against Bailey so far in his career, going hitless in 18 at-bats and striking out six times. Adrian Gonzalez, on the other hand, has done very well against the right-hander, notching 10 hits in 21 at-bats with two doubles, five home runs and seven RBI.

Dodgers' ace Clayton Kershaw won his third game of the year last Friday when he was able to beat the Philadelphia Phillies on the road. He pitched six scoreless innings in that outing and allowed just two hits while striking out nine and walking three. Kershaw is now 3-1 on the season with a 3.49 ERA and has struck out 37 hitters through 28.1 innings.

Veteran second baseman Brandon Phillips is 8-for-22 against Kershaw in his career with a double and an RBI. Jay Bruce has a .357 batting average against Kershaw with two home runs.
