On Tuesday night, right-hander Homer Bailey will try to pick up his eighth win of the season when he and the Cincinnati Reds take on Jake Arrieta and the Chicago Cubs.

On Thursday, Homer Bailey went 5.2 innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates and ended up taking the no decision in a game the Pirates ended up winning 5-4. He gave up three runs on nine hits in that outing while walking one and striking out five. On the season, Bailey is 7-3 for the reds despite giving up 102 hits in 90.1 innings.

Starlin Castro has just six hits against Bailey in 30 at-bats, but two of those hits were home runs. Veteran Nate Schierholtz is 8-for-17 against him with two doubles, a home run and three RBI.

28-year-old Jake Arrieta won his second game in a row and his third overall on Wednesday when he was able to defeat the Miami Marlins on the road. He pitched seven innings in that start and allowed just one run on five hits while walking one and striking out a season-high 11 batters. Arrieta has been fantastic for the Cubs so far this year, going 3-1 through nine starts with a 1.98 ERA.

Skip Schumaker is 1-for-1 against Arrieta with a walk, while Ramon Santiago and Brayan Pena are both 0-for-2 against him. None of the other Reds have faced the right-hander yet.
